Brent Murray of White Earth Tribal and Community College
Brent Murray is currently completing his final semester at White Earth Tribal and Community College (WETCC) and will graduate with his Associate of Arts degree in the spring of 2026. His confident stride and constant smile bring a positive energy to campus.
Brent defines success as “being happy, proud, accomplishing goals, and overcoming any obstacle that’s in my way to a greater future.” Brent is especially proud of making the president’s list, which requires a term GPA of 4.0—surpassing his academic achievements in high school.
Brent has been an active member of several student organizations, including STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics), student senate, and AIHEC (American Indian Higher Education Consortium). He has also held a campus job through the work study program.
Last summer, Brent assisted with the Summer Robotics Camp hosted at WETCC for area high school students. He enjoyed mentoring the students and continues to encourage area youth to pursue their dreams.
Brent’s journey has been shaped by resilience and determination. One of his greatest challenges was rehabilitation. “I’ve been through so much,” he shares, “but I’ve learned not to dwell on those issues anymore. Letting them go to move on has been challenging, but worth it.”
Reflecting on his time at WETCC, Brent says, “It’s been a successful journey. The field trips to four-year colleges and the support from advisors and student success coaches made a big difference.” His advice to future students is simple: “Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for help. And don’t miss class—that’s been the biggest key to success.”
